As you know the Vision for Agriculture and Food states that the European Commission will put forward a simplification package end of Q4 2025 including measures to accelerate access to biocontrol.
As part of this process, IBMA asked for your input on draft amendments to 1107/2009 for biocontrol which are based on amendments from the SUR (Sustainable Use Regulation) discussions.
We thank the many members who responded to our consultations either as companies, as National Associations or participants in the Professional Groups and relevant Working Parties.
We enjoyed a particularly constructive discussion with the Advocacy Working Party in a face to face workshop in Brussels as well as two online sessions with the Advisory Regulatory Working Group and two online consultations open to all members.
In total we had over 70 contributions which were subsequently consolidated and approved by the IBMA Council.
We worked on the much-needed immediate targeted amendments to Reg.1107-2009, including the EU wide Biocontrol definition and key measures to accelerate biocontrol’s access to the EU market.
IBMA has also called for a new legislative framework for biocontrol, needed in the longer-term to consolidate a future-proof regulatory environment for biocontrol.
