February 2025- EFSA Guidance on the characterisation and risk assessment of microorganisms used in the food chain

EFSA has launched a public consultation on the “Draft guidance on the characterisation and risk assessment of microorganisms used in the food chain”.  We gathered feedback from the Microbials Professional Group and thank José Carvalho and Ian Baxter for their efforts and time compiling and reviewing the comments.

February 2025- Labelling Requirements for PPPs

The public consultation on the EU Commission’s proposal to repeal Commission Regulation (EU) No 547/2011 regarding labelling requirements for plant protection products opened on 6 January and ran until 3 February. Given its significance for the biocontrol sector, IBMA undertook a number of activities to get feedback from members and also keep them informed.

January 2025- Public consultation on the EU Single Market Strategy for 2025

European Commission’s President Ursula von der Leyen’s political guidelines highlight the need to “make business easier and deepen our Single Market to help innovative companies grow” while Mario Draghi states in his recent report that “innovative companies that want to scale up in Europe are hindered at every stage by inconsistent and restrictive regulations”. Creating a truly integrated single market is therefore critical for European competitiveness.
