IBMA attends Biopesticides Working Group meeting

IBMA participated in the Biopesticides Working Group meeting organised by DG SANTE on 10-11 June 2024. We gave 6 presentations that shared IBMA positions and contributions to various topics of concern for the industry. We also responded to DG SANTE initiatives such as the new provisions on microbial consortia.

IBMA presented the ZAPID outcomes and reiterated its position on various issues raised during the workshop (December 2023). We also shared a first introduction to the IBMA Natural Substances questionnaire on regulatory challenges for applicants. This questionnaire was prepared by the WG2 NSPG and gathered answers from 31 IBMA Members on a series of 20 questions.  A further survey on Microbial Consortia was conducted following a request from DG SANTE.

We thank the 30 members who shared their interest in answering this survey allowing IBMA and DG SANTE to better identify interests from the microorganism industry to register microbial consortia in the EU. The Microbial Professional Group presented insights on how the renewal process is blocking extensions of use and new products.
